Murshidabad : Place of Historical Importance

The Central district of West-Bengal is situated on south of Ganga River. Murshidabad got its name from Nawab Murshid Quli Khan, the Dewan of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa under Emperor Aurangzeb. The Nawab shifted the capital of Bengal to Murshidabad in 1705. The place has historical significance.Near Murshidabad, at Palsy the historic battle between Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula and Lord Clive was fought.
